Welcome to the Python Interview Cookbook

Hello! I'm Ajay Kumar, and I created this cookbook because I noticed a massive gap in how software engineers prepare for technical interviews.

There are thousands of generic Python tutorials online, and hundreds of algorithm platforms like LeetCode. But very few resources teach you exactly how to write production-grade, highly optimized Python code specifically for Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA) under interview pressure.

Why I Built This

When candidates switch to Python for interviews, or when juniors prepare for FAANG rounds, they often end up writing "C++ in Python" or "Java in Python." They miss out on the incredible power of Python's standard library, comprehensions, and built-in optimization tricks that can save precious minutes on a whiteboard.

This repository is designed to fix that.

What This Is (And What It Isn't)

  • This is NOT a beginner Python tutorial. I won't teach you what a for loop is.
  • This IS a battle-tested reference guide. Every page is designed to answer a practical interview question, explain the space/time tradeoffs of different approaches, and show you the most Pythonic way to solve it.

How to Use This Cookbook

If you are new to using Python in interviews, start with the Python Foundations and Standard Library sections. If you already know the basics and want to learn specific structural formulas, jump straight into the Algorithmic Patterns or Interview Templates.
